Despite my best intentions, it looks like I'll probably be updating more like once a year than once a month. So I thought I'd do a rundown of 2016 to catch up on the last twelve months or so!
New one-act play "The Revolution" presented as part of Exquisite Corpse Company's Drinks and Drama Series. (Revived in June for a production on Governors Island).
Traveled to Atlanta to see New Origins Theatre Company's production of What Happened. They did a great job with the show and it was produced at a former dentist's office turned arts incubator, which may well be the coolest venue where I've ever had a play.
Connected opened at 59E59, produced by Project Y Theatre Company. Amazing production! Ended up getting nominated for lots of New York Innovative Theatre Awards, including Outstanding Full-length Script.
Traveled to Baltimore to see a production of Right Place, Right Time with Xpressions Performing Arts Company. Also saw a great production of Reality at Fairleigh Dickinson University, directed by Alberto Bonilla, who's currently pursuing options for a commercial run.
My first high school production! - Connected at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. The play was recently published by Playscripts in both high school and adult editions, so hopefully more high school productions to follow!
Traveled to San Francisco to see a reading of Green Whales at San Francisco Playhouse, then on to Alaska to serve as a featured guest artist for the Last Frontier Theatre Conference, responding to plays and mentoring playwrights in beautiful Valdez, Alaska for a week.
Project Y's first annual Women in Theatre Festival opened at Theatre Row, and my play Baby Boom was one of the centerpiece productions.
A couple of readings - A Perfect Fit (an honorable mention on the 2016 Kilroys List) with Outliers Theatre Company, and American Dreamers with West of 10th Productions. Also went on retreat with Inviolet Theatre Company, and was invited to become a new company member (very excited to work with this amazing group of artists this year!)
Writers' residency with One Company, led by Tony Award-winning producer Nick Demos. Also worked with Mile Square Theatre and New York Madness on short play festivals (both great companies that I was excited to work with for the first time!)
Traveled to Houston for a reading of my new play Ends of the Earth with Wordsmyth Theatre Company.
Reading of What Happened with the Greenhouse Ensemble - currently working on a rewrite to tour to high schools in 2017.
No theater travel this month, just lots of fun/personal travel - Paris for a week with my husband, then Colorado for two weeks to visit my family over Christmas!
September is busy! My play American Dreamers opens in its world premiere at Jersey City Theater Center on 9/11/15, and my play Green Whales opens at Forward Flux Productions in Seattle on 9/16/15. I'll be seeing American Dreamers opening weekend, then heading out to Seattle to see Green Whales (and visit the city for the first time, can't wait!).
